Gyeongsan Jahin DanoJe

I went to Gyeongsan Jahin Danoje in Gyeongbuk province.


What is Gyeongsan Jahin Danoje?


Gyeongsan Jahin Dano Festival is called Danojeol, Danyangjeol, Danyangnori, or Danyanggut.


It is a local festival of the eternal history originated from a memorial service to heaven of an ancient tribal nation and agricultural ceremony. As a traditional public festival handing down what was transmitted, it is designated as the major intangible cultural assets No. 13.


All the citizens as a whole pray for abundance and safety. It has a deep-rooted tradition to lay down friendship and cooperation for mutual benefit and love of one’s home through grand folk plays such as farm music, Ssireum, swing.

UNESCO designated the Danoje Festival a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
 

Dano was originally a day when farmers carried out rituals at the end of the sowing season but has now developed into an annual festival, providing games and art performances, with the Gangneung Danoje Festival drawing more than 1 million visitors a year.

 

This is the admiral Han's tomb.

This place is the main spot to held Danoje.
The forest was small and quite. But a view was nice and peaceful.

This place called "Sea jung dang" Here is used to be a government office at chosun periord. After that is used middle high school.

There were a lot of events.

I found a making hanji hand mirror by using hanji. Hanji is traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry tree. The paper quality is very special and nice.

A lot of kids were interested in this craft very much. Even I was interested in this so much!! The price was 1,000won to make this beautiful hand mirror!



 This is another paint event. It called "tak-bon". Just looking was very fun!

This one called " Sot dae"It looks like a bit difficult to make it. But when it finished, it looks very nice.

There were verity local product for selling.
Look at this wild flower~ Small booth was full of flowers.
 

Here, I could drink traditional tea.

I drank " Yeon tea" first time, it taste like a Jasmin tea. Nice~
 

Buckwheat tea also free service as a ice tea.

Wow, here was a making rice cake.

You can smash the dough by yourself and make rice cake too.

The dduk was Injeolmi~~ So YUM~~ 

 There were also pottery, folding fan ,dyeing events.

There is Changpo hair cleaning corner.
Long time ago, people thought that cleaning with changpo water is able to ward off evil spirit.

You could write your family motto with handwriting.

I couldn't miss the food in the festival.

There were so many different kind of traditional foods.

Some I could eat, some I wouldn't eat haha. But looks nice.
 

This small water park is for children and family. The sun was so strong.

We needed a water.!! 
 

 After lunch time, Jahin woman's nongak-dan played to pungmul enthusiastically.

This performance was my favorite event today.

The sound was so different compare to western instrument and very unique.

I loved it and it was very exciting.

Some old people was dancing and enjoying.




The member of this team was all woman. Some woman age 's my mom~

But they were so powerful and enthusiastic.
That was very impressive. People say this team has received many outstanding awards.

The hat with string dance just amazing and I was wondering that aren't they dizzy?

  After pungmul, they sang a Korean folk song.

 A beautiful Korean traditional clothes.

Once, I've heard that Korean folk song have sorrow embedded in them.
I didn't even understand what they sang, the melody sounds sad song.

They are a medical service volunteer for old people.

 This is Jaesuk-sa temple. It is located in village. It took about 20minutes from Jahin forest.

This is an inside of temple.

 There were so many people to attend Dareje.

 

The monk bless the Wonhyo Sungsa birth Dareje in this time. He is the highest monk at the moment.

 After this ceremony, they were preparing meal.

This Gyeongsan Jahin Danoje festival is good for one day trip.
