Bonghwa-gun

Today, I head for Gyeongbuk Bonghwa-gun for my short day trip.

Hum… this is the tourist map but there was no English….
It was little hard to read it.

Beford I visit here I look bonghwa.

Bonghwa is famous location for mushroom, apple, Korean snack as well.

And there was very well-knwon film with plow ox.

This might be the sign for film location.

The name of the film is the warnangsori.

'Warnangsori' is a movie about a plow ox and an old man,
Choi wan gun living in sanjeong village, hanul 1-ri.

The filming location of this movie is located in Sanjeong Village,
Hanul 1-ri, Sangwun-myeon, Bonghwa-gun.

The filming took place over about three years from the second half of 2005 to
the first half of 2008.

Two of them ard leading actors.
I've heard that this film's main actors were not movie star.
They were just normal people who live is village.

What a peaceful village.

This is a bronze statue about main leading plow ox and grandfather.

This scene reming me my childhood. Cause I grew uo very country.

This is the place to rest.

Plowing a field, tilling the soil and gathering firewood...

This documentary film captures everyday affairs of Choi Won-gun and
his old partner, an ox.

This sign announce cow's tomb. the main cow was dead a few years ago.

Normally plow ox lives about 15 years. But it is said the ox lived be about 30.

I will look for a movie and watch it. My Korean friend said that it was very moving.

After that I went to “Daksil” and “Cheongamjeong”.

The surrounding area is filled with rich pine forests and beautiful rocks.

In 'Taengniji', a book of geography, Lee Jung-hwa,
a scholar of the positive school of thinking during the middle years of the Joseon dynasty, recorded this area as one of the most remarkable scenic spots in Korea.

Village is small and quite.

Known as 'Dakshil' ,this is a historic site of Chungjae Gwon Beol (1478 ~ 1548),
an important civil minister during the period of rule by King Jungjong of the Joseondynasty.
'Cheongamjeong' was personally built by Chungjae Gwon Beol and 'Seokjeonjeongsa' was built by Cheongam Gwon Dong-bo, the eldest son of Chungjae, are preserved here.

Cheongamjeong Pavilion was built by Choong-jae Gwon Beol (1478-1548),
with his eldest son, Gwon Dong-bo.

Choong-jae Gwon Beol retreated to this place being related to the Kimyosahwa massacre of scholars, and devoted himself to moral philosophy for 15 years .

This beautiful piece of architecture is a highly valuable cultural asset,
and has been designated and preserved as a Historic and Scenic Site.

It would be wonderful to take a picture of an image reflected on the flower,
just like the poster of Painters at Cheongamjeong Pavilion, Bonghwa.

This place is well known for the Story of Chunhyang,
who was betrothed to Lee Mong-ryong.

Here is Lee mong ryong’s house who is main leading actor in the story.

The movie and the drama were filmed in this location.

This tree’s age is more than 500 years. Wow..

In addtion, the drama, the movie and the movie that was released last year were also filmed here, making this quite a popular location for television and film.

There are many interesting sughts around sights around Gwanghanroo Pavilion
(Historic Site Number 303), including Chunhyang Pavilion, Wolmae House,
Wanwoljeong Pavilion, Youngjugak Pavilion, and Samshin Mountain,
as well as the legendary Oh-jak Bridge of Gyeon-woo and Jik-nyeo.

Here is Dadeok Mineral Spring ~

This carbonated mineral water spring is located along the National Road No. 36.

In old times, many people experienced beneficial effects after drinking water from
this spring located underneath the Seumunamu tree.

There is a market selling organically grown vegetables and fruits nearby.
So, this is especially popular among tourists.

Dadeok Mineral Spring was designated as a tourist site in 2001.
At present, a mineral spring resort complex is under construction.

There is Seokcheon valley is wide, and surrounded by thick pine forest.

Next to the valley, you will also find the Seokcheonjeong Pavilion,
which was built in 1535 during the Joseon period.

This pavilion, made up of Bonghwa red pine trees called Chunyangmok,
(the county tree) offers a great view of the nearby scenic mountain.

On the way to Seoul, we had really great bbq dinner.

We could buy beef by ourself and pay only 4,000 won for basic dish
such as lettuce, Kimchi, other vegetable.

Look at that beef, It was so delicious.

I loved it!!

We enjoyed a dinner very much and came back to Seoul.

Bonghwa province was quite, clean and have awesome view~~!
