This week, I visited Pohang city with my friend Minhee.

I did not hear about Pohang that much so I googled it.

Pohang is famous for beautiful natural and tourist attractions.

Loot at this weather!

The weather was just perfect. It was raining until this early morning.

But the heaven was so kind as to help me!

I head for Chunryeong mountain and Naeyeon mountatin velley.
Here is the park area an entry to a Bogyeongsa.

We parked a car here and had to walk to the place.

A parking fee was 2000 won.
I could see many mountain climber.

Wow~ Korean loves to climb the mountain!!
In order to get in Bogyeongsa, we paid entrance fee.

It is 2500won.
The woods were dense with large trees.
I breathed deeply, drawing in the fresh mountain air.
Here is the Bogyeongsa's main entrance.
A crape myrtle were in full bloom all over the entrance.
I drank a water from here and hear the sound of Buddhist scriptures.

And bird sound.

Those sounds makes me restful.
There is some art exhibition in the temple.

I saw the Dharma artwork.
They also sell Buddhism accessories.
Here is the Bogyeongsa's main temple ( Daewong-geon).

It was pretty small compare to other temple.

There are lot of woman who pray very seriously.

I did not know what is about but I guess it is for family.

I was very impressive.
I prayed for everyone in my family will be health and happy!!
The ancient Bogyeongsa Temple is located on this mountain, as are numerous beautiful waterfalls. If you reach Gwaneum Falls after passing by Ssangsaeng Falls, Sambo Falls, Boyeon Falls, and Jamyong Falls, you will find Gwaneum Cave.

After continuing over a viaduct, you will finally come across Yeonsan Falls,
the most magnificent and splendid waterfall among the 12 on Mt. Naeyeonsan.

With its pristine waters and surrounding pine forest,
many visitors have fallen in love with Yeonsan Falls.

I found Naeyeon mountain valley.

The water of the valley was clear enough for fish to live in.
This guy was looking for something.
Here, for walking trail was very neat and flat.

I thought I can walk with my slippers.
I was walking 20 minutes more, I saw beautiful fall name called Sangseng fall.

The cool water of the lake invited me to swim.

The fall called twin fall.

Because of same shape and looks like a twin~
 Nice view~isn't it?
This is Gwan-um fall.

The fall was splendid beyond all description.
Pass this bridge, I could see Naeyeon fall!
Wow... There was no word to express this awesome view.

Enjoy the pictures.

Today, I was planning just light walking. So I just get to Naeyeon fall and came back.

But there are many different way if you want to walk or hike.

Maybe next time?

I started to hungry and I moved to Jookdo market.

Jookdo market is the biggest traditional market in Pohang.

There are more than 1200 shops for selling seafoods.

Loads of things to see and eat!!

We decide to eat Pohang water sashimi.

But different kind of one.

With Soup!!
We were waiting to have this food, This must be good I thought.
This water sashimi price was 12000 won.

I am not really sashimi person though this was pretty good.
There were soup with raw fish and bean paste stew too.

It was little spicy.
After lunch I went to Gyeongbuk arboretum.

The arboretum has theme parks with flowers of the four season.

The arboretum is located 630m above the sea level with area of 3222ha.

It is the second biggest arboretum following France's Basili arboretum (6070ha).

It is also 2.8 times bigger than previously biggest arboretum (1150ha) in Korea located in Pocheon.

The arboretum containing tree exhibition hall, botanic garden, greenhouse, pond, and grass square has 179,226 trees, grass and flowers of 1510 kinds.

In September 2001, the arboretum has opened with the area of 55ha with greenhouse, exhibition hall, grass square, 7 managing facilities and 3 ponds.

However, two extension works increased its size.
I am little sad that the picture doesn't show enough how great it is...
There are number of noted mountains in the region so the arboretum is expected
to become a famous tourist attraction.
Here is open 10 to 6 from March to October.
I got there too late so couldn't see much of inside.
The province is planning to divide the arboretum into 24 fields depending
on the characteristics of the plants and utilize it as a place for research and study.

The province is also planning to make further investment of 10 billion won
to construct a memory forest by laying ashes of the dead at the tree bottom.

We were sitting by a quite pond I remind my day.

I have been to Gyeongnam arboretum a while ago.
Compare to there Gyeongbuk arboretum is small but you can enjoy walk through the woods.

Gyeongnam was more fancy and various.

I like here personally.

If you have short break like a few days,
this Pohang city is that can relax and get some refresh spot.
Naeyeon mountain cliff has a mysterious and exotic.

[Gyeongbuk Seongju ] Hoeyeon Seowon (lecture hall) chung cheon Seodang village school/ Castle-surrounding Forest

I head for Gyeongbuk Sungju over the weekend for relax.

On the way go there, the heavy rain cranked up fall.

Fortunately, rain stopped when I got there.

Lucky me~

Gyeongbuk Seongju

Seongju County is located on the southwest region of North Kyungsang Province

It is in circular shape overall,
surrounded by harboring regions of Dalseong-gun and
Chilgok-gun of Daegu Metropolitan City from
the East, Kimcheon City and Geochang-gun,
South Kyungsan Province from the West, Goryeong-gun,
Hapcheon-gun and Geochang-gun of South Kyungsang Province from
the South, along with Kimcheon City and Chilgok-gun.

Seongju is famous for chamoe fruit.

Chamoe is a new kind of chamoe from Seongju region,
created by fertilizing chamoe with the melon resulting
in fructose content that is over 15 percent.
It is the preferred kind among the consumers today.

Its sleek and clean exterior and color, along with sweet,
gentle crunch taste that melts in your mouth further enhances its freshness,
making it the finest summer fruit there is.

In addition, chamoe contains vitamin A and C, along with Calcium.

Hoeyeon Seowon (Lucture hall)

This Confucian Academy was established by a Confucian scholar Jeong Gu
(Hangang, 1543~1620) in 1583(16th year of King Seonjo reign).

It was built to raise men of talent and came to be called Hoeyeon Seowon in 1627,
the 5th year of King Injo reign.

Later, it was acknowledged by the court in 1690
(16th year of King Sukjong reign),

but was closed by Daewongun in 1868(5th yearof King Gojong reign),
and opened again by Sarims in 1984.

And Hyangchonsarim is enshrined in the spring and fall each year.

At Baekmaewon, front garden of Seowon,
there is a devotee monument, and in the exhibition hall,
there are many remains of Jeong Gu’s writings
and other woodblocks and relics.

 Turtle shape ancestral tablet.
The distance vista of Heoyeon seowon looks beautiful .
This tree protects their village over 400 years, they believe.
This is the main gate of Hoeyeon Seowon.
There will be full of Japanese apricot flower in the spring.

This tree has survived over 400years.
Hoeyeon seowon has 5 room at the front and 3 at the sides.
Unfortunately those rooms are being renovated ad are closed to the public.

 It looks like a poem.

It looks like an amulet.

Somebody was let me know this meaning was that
when you have a good day you will sleep well too.

Soongmogak
This place was for collecting historical stuff.
But it was all stolen.

This tree is a crape –myrtle. Gorgeous~

Cheongcheon seodang( local school )

Cheongcheon Seodang which is located in Daega-myeon,
Chilbong-ri was established in 1729(5th year King Yeongjo).
Simsan Kim Chang suk (1879-1962)
repaired the Seodang as part of a patriotic movement.
Unfortunately I could not get in there.

The village was very quiet and I did not see many people.

Crape –myrtle tree makes this seowon looks better.

If you don’t have a car, this area looks like difficult to find.

Castle-surrounding Forest
Oh… It was raining again.

I just could take a look around for a moment.
Located in Seongju-eup Gyeongsan-ri,
woods outside the fortress is used as a resting place for district people.
(59 Large willows, aged 300~500)
This place was designated as a national monument in 6th April 1999(No. 403).

It is a historical, cultural, feng-shui, religious place and with local history,

this place is visited by 60 thousand people each year for rest, recreation and other purposes.
This tree is protected natural monument No.406 in 1999 years.|
The tree type is large willows and aged 300~500 years.

It is also a simbol of the village’s spirits, history and culture.

I really wanted look around more but the rain did not stop.

I had no choice to get back.

I will look forward to coming next time..

Maybe fall season with my friend? I would love to come again!!
