Pohang

I had so much in Korea in 2010.

The last year is the one of the most unforgettable year to me in my life.

The Pohang Community Movement (Saemaeul Undong) is the greatest nation revolutionizing policy that led to the economic miracle of Korea, overcoming the poverty of 1970s.

It was initiated at the local ministers meeting in April 22, 1970, when president Park called for the "New cultivation Movement" based on self-reliance and independence for the redevelopment of agricultural communities.

First, I visited Youngil fork museum.

To permanently reserve traditional customs and relics, Pohang city and Pohang Culture Center jointly collected folk material and renovated Jenamheon.

In the newly renovated place, they exhibit 2,300 folk materials and opened the museum in 29 October, 1983.

The second exhibition was established in 30 June 1987.

It was designated as public folk museum by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 30 June 1987.

Situated on a 1,300 pyeong of site, it possesses 1 cultural asset and 4,600 folk materials.

Place being close to the ocean, there were plenty of fishing nets along with farming equipments.

At exhibition 1, I was able to feel the pleasant life the ancestors of that place.

Next I went to the exhibition 2.

This is the outdoor exhibition.

The most catch my eye thing was thatched house in outdoor exhibition.

There was a mill and many stuff for grain grind.

This picture is that the way to give punishment long time ago.

It looks very sick if I get this punishment.

Ouch!!

I moved to Bogyeongsa temple.

Bogyeongsa has the splendid and beautiful Jungnamsan Mountain at its back, and is surrounded by a chain of small mountains from Naeyeonsan.

The temple embraces clean stream water flowing from a deep valley, which is famous for 12 waterfalls.

The stone pagoda from Koryo Dynasty is smaller than usual stone pagoda’s and even kind of cute in a way.

The harmony between Bogyeongsa I was able to feel the history in it.

Other than that the scenery and surrounding was breath taking.

Next I head for Gyeongsangbuk-do arboretum.

Located on a highland that rises 630m in average altitude, Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum is Asia’s largest and the world’s second largest arboretum (3,222ha).

As a great learning center of mountainous plants, this arboretum possesses many rare highland plants, including 179,226 roots of 1,510 species, rare plants, and wild flowers.

This facility includes 24 specialty parks, such as the highland plants center and iris center, and attracts many visitors for experiential learning and academic researches.

The arboretum also makes a great resource for a themed tour to the Information Village .

Plantation is placed on a high elevated place.

The air was extraordinarily fresh.

As I got to the tree plantation I was amazed by how big the place was.

The place was so big that it was impossible to walk around without the information boards and signs.

There were no flowers but I was able to imagine how beautiful it would be during other seasons.

As I left the plantation I promised myself that I would comeback during the flower blossoming spring.

At 7:32 A.M.

I went to the park to see the first sunrise of 2011.

Wow! it was awesome sunrise.
