Yeongcheon

Today, I am going to Yeongcheon. Weather was just beautiful~

As soon as I arrive Youngcheon , I headed for Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory.

The Bohyeon-san Astronomical Observatory, one of the 3 largest astronomical observatories in Korea, is located at the top of Bohyeon-san.

It was built in 1996 and has the largest optical telescope, an 1.8m Ritchey Cretien reflector and a Solar Flare Telescope (SOFT).

The telescope is capable of observations of distant galaxies in wavelengths up to near infrared, as well as dynamical and chemical characteristics of stars, clusters and galaxies.

There are plans to build a 6-metre telescope as well in the near future.

I couldn’t get in there, because this time was not visit period.

But I could hear the history and explanation from a manager.

BOAO owns the largest optical telescope in Korea, an 1.8m Ritchey Cretien reflector and a Solar Flare Telescope(SOFT).

With the 1.8m telescope, astronomers are now able to investigate distant galaxies in wider wavelengths ranging up to the near infrared.

With a high and medium dispersion spectrometer mounted on this telescope, astronomers can study the dynamical and chemical characteristics of stars and extra-solar planets.

I climb to the top of mountain. This mountain is 1123.4m above sea level.

Air was so cool and fresh.

Next I went to starvillage… This village held Bohyunsan star festival around May.

There will be very exciting events regarding to stars ~

If I have enough time I really would join the festival.
Then I moved to the buddhist temple, Eun hae-sa.

Eunhae-sa is head temple for the 10th district of the jogye order of Korean buddihism.

As the head temple of the 10th District of a Korea’s Buddhist sector (Jogye), it is located on the eastern foot of Mt. Palgong that is 19km to the west of downtown Yeongcheon.

It was originally established in Haeanpyeong by National Priest Hyecheol in the 1st year of the reign of Shilla King Heondeok (809 B.C.E) and was transferred to here and called Eunhae Temple by Priest Cheongyo in the 1st year of the reign of Joseon King Myeongjong (1546).

The temple includes eight small monk’s cells, such as Geojoam, Baekheungam, Unbuam, Jungangam, and Gigiam.

Yeongsanjeon of Geojoam is appointed as National Treasure No. 14, The Bronze Seated Bodhisattva of Unbuam as Treasure No. 514, Sumidan and Geukrakjeon of Baekheungam as Treasures No. 486 and No. 790, and The Grand-size Painting of Buddha in Eunhae Temple as Treasure No. 1270.

Youngcheon is also famous for oriental medicine.

Since ancient times, Yeongcheon has been famous for the gathering of medicinal herbs and is now well known for its advanced oriental medicine.

Yeongcheon holds the Yeongcheon Herb Medicine Festival every October in order to systemize the traditional oriental medicine industry and to make the growing of medicinal herbs its major local industry.

The Yeongcheon Chinese Herbal Medicine Distribution Complex handles 30% of the national distribution of Chinese herbs.

A variety of Chinese herbal medicines can be bought at a cheap price and it is easy to access it since it is near the Gyeongbu Express Highway.

Time has passed so quickly. I was very hungry.

So I was heading for famous dumpling restaurant.

Here is the restaurant for Kun Man-do (dumpling). I could see the many TV show visited here!!

There are only three menu. Pretty simple~! Looks very yam~~

Yeong Ju

Here I come to Yeongju,

I have heard that Yeongju, is the one of the place where has national treasures.

On the way to Yeongju, the sky had lightened after the rain.

I arrived one of the representative travel spot in Yeongju, called Buseok Tample.

I saw the Buseok Tampe and it was a such a surprising sight that my mouth just fell agape with wonder.

The entrance of Buseok Tample great first treasure met my eyes.

This is a Three-story stone tower of Buseok Tample.

Three-story stone tower stand side by side. It build each right , left side degnifidly.

I read the history board. They said that this east-tower and west tower had been moved since 1960’s from Il Myung Tample.

In front of the tower is a similar spectacle, a dignified building, Bum Jong Gak.

This place’s history is very long.

I felt clam and peaceful in a classic way.

Bum Jong Gak is the first build when I got the entrance.

Because of the magnificence of the look, I could not take eye off it.

Here is the awesome picture.

The beautiful roof looks like fly in the sky.

I step up the first floor. Um… It looks a little different.

The second floor truly unique in layout and architecture, a visit to the Bum Jong Gak will stay with you as it will be like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Visitors can stroll through the trees, play chase and hide-and-seek with the kids and generally appreciate local Korean at play and a break from the busy city outside the gates.

I was very thirsty , at the time I found mineral water nearby An Yang Ru.

And I was glad to run and drink the water.

I can’t explain how cool and fresh this mineral water!!!

I left Buseok Tample and got on the car.

I head to SoSu Sewon. This Sewon also one of the famous beautiful place.

As soon as I passed ticket office, I face the woods that it was dense with large trees and straight road.

This place called “Hak Ja Soo Rim”.

Most of that area is covered with red pine trees which life is 300 years to 1000 years.

I was so amazing!!!

I passed Soo Su Suwon entrance , could see the Gang Hak Dang.

People said this was old school.

This school was the Korea’s first private university.

The school’s yard is very wide and calm.

Even now, here it looks very good place to study.

Next, I googled great to eat things.

And they said Donut is delicious!

Is it looks delicious? Donut was very yammy!!

It was so tasty. I bought one box.

I strongly recommend Yeongju donut! If you don’t try to eat, um….. you will never gonna have the same tasty donut.

Yeongju was the very Korean place you come to on a visit to the pagoda complex and is probably the one of most interesting architecturally.
