Korean’s folk village- Yang dong village, Gyeongju

Yangdong Village is one of Korea’s representative “folk villages.”

Like Andong’s Hahoe Village, and unlike Yongin’s Korean Folk Village, it is a real historical village whose homes have stood where they are for centuries.

There is different section from 1 to 6 because of it is huge village.

Every course will takes about 30 ~ 50 min.

The entire village has been designated Important Folk Material No. 189, and a number of individual homes are protected treasures.
Korea’s cultural authorities are also pushing to register the village as a UNESCO World Heritage Site by 2010.

Where to stay.

Yangdong Village is a typical example of Korea’s traditional emphasis on “human scale.”
Not even the largest of the manor houses are so grand as to intimidate the visitor, as a Western manor home might.

Seoback –dang is the olddest and representative traditional house in Korea.

It was build in 1475.

A number of the homes in the village have been renovated to serve as restaurants —

most of these are found by the entrance to the village.
I found one restaurant that there is very special menu.
It was rice with lotus leaf.

Wow~ this is Yeonbob set menu.
The dishes are not very special but rice was very taste.

There are lots of cereals inside and it steamed with lotus leaf.
The rice smell was good.

After eating the lunch I visited Bongwhangdae and the street of culture.

They are developing this street to make new cultural spot but you can see old and traditional stuff.

See? I could see the old stuff..
Like shop for souvenir and tea house etc…

This street has been developing since 2007 and it is going to be Theme course for tourists.

Yang dong village is not that famous as Bulguk-sa and others but it was pretty beautiful place.
I would say Yang dong is the secret great site of Gyeongju~
